The Punjab government decided to waive the loan amount of agriculturists up to Rs.2 lakh. This waiver of the debt scheme will be applicable to every farmer in Punjab. The state government also provided a subsidy to the farmers of Punjab on the purchase of equipment related to agriculture. Most of the agriculturists in India can do farming by taking heavy loans from a bank or other sources because they are helpless and have no sufficient money for their crops. A farmer can take a heavy loan for buying different fertilizers, good quality Seeds, and other equipment related to agriculture.

- The main purpose of this Punjab Kisan Karj Mafi Scheme is to provide some financial relief for the farmers of the Punjab State.
- “Punjab Kisan Karj Mafi Scheme” is Announced by the chief minister of the Punjab Mr. Captain Amrinder Singh at the time of the 2020-21 budget.

- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab.
- The applicant belongs to the small and marginal category of farmers in Punjab.
- Only one family member from a whole family can apply for this loan waiver scheme.
- The income tax payee must not be getting the benefit of this scheme.
- The applicant must be related to the BPL family
(Below Poverty Line) or poor section of the Punjab state.
